Background: The inland area of Southern Portugal is a disadvantaged area experiencing desertification due to poor living conditions. In Loco works in an area of 3756 km2 with 74000 inhabitants, 19,6 inh/km2.

Local development of disadvantageous rural areas. The main tool for work: LEADER (I and II) but we are running other national and communitary programmes like HORIZON, EUROFORM, NOW, YOUTHSTART, ERGO, TELEMATIQUE, CARREFOUR, etc.
