Description
Windsor Albion Co-operative (WAC) Ltd is located in the Precinct area of Salford, Greater Manchester. It is a mixed estate of houses and flats. Five years ago it was not a desirable or popular place to live - the estate had a reputation for drugs, vandalism, stolen cars and general anti-social behaviour.

WAC is a registered not for profit Friendly society controlled by its members, i.e. tenants on the estate, now called Windsor Village. It manages 156 houses and flats on behalf of Salford City Council, and 23 houses on behalf of Irwell Valley HA. WAC employs its own staff and has its own office on the estate. The services it manages are repairs and maintenance, caretaking, ground maintenance, allocations and general tenancy management.
Activities
WAC is now seeking to expand and is hoping that going on line and working with Epitelio will help.

It is seeking to set up Windsor Enterprises Ltd as a trading arm. It already has established Windsor Gardening Society which plans to seek contracts beyond the estate. Other services it seeks to offer are security, training and small repairs. It intends to network its ideas and plans with other co-ops and will be happy to hear of the experiences of other groups.

WAC is preparing a bid to the Lotteries Charity Board to demolish a pub nearby and, using self build techniques, develop the site as a business/WAC/social centre.
